Changes are a-coming.

I have been streaming since 2009. I started off streaming on own3d and I moved to twitch once that streaming site unexpectedly shut down. I started streaming consistently in December 2013. I had the support of my (ex) husband and I felt comfortable enough to really give it a try.

I started off streaming minecraft. It was a game I enjoyed and I felt comfortable doing. I didn't feel comfortable playing a first person shooter. I've never really been good at those. And League of Legends was a game I wasn't good at either (even though I really enjoyed it) so I had no hope to get anywhere with that game. Plus it attracted a lot of undesirable types of viewers. So minecraft it was. I discovered I enjoyed it so I stuck with it.

I never really had a theme or a "gimmick". I didn't want one. I just wanted to do my own thing and enjoy what it was I was doing. I wanted to do it more and be more successful at streaming. I'm so lucky I had a chance to continue streaming until late October 2014. I took a 3 month break then for personal reasons. The community had changed quite a bit in the 3 months I was gone. Everyone had gimmicks. Everyone had a catch phrase. I had nothing. Then somehow an idea was born: turkeys. When I make a mistake or I get scared, I do a panic sound. Everyone's heard it who has watched my stream consistently. I make a kind of "gobble" sound. So one night when I had my viewers raid someone, the phrase "Kiraeyl's turkeys have come to gobble you up!" was born.

My follower notification is now turkey gobbles. Feathers pop up with the followers name on them thanking them for joining the flock.

This is NOT who I am. This is NOT what I want to be. I want to be real and genuine. I don't want to have gimmicks. I don't want to ride on the coat tails of anyone else's ideas. I want to be myself.

So this is what is changing regarding my livestream:

• Turkeys are gone (no more feather grabber game, no more feather follower notifications/gobble sounds, no more "Kiraeyl's turkey's have come to gobble you up") The turkeys can come back here and there, but as a regular thing it is done.
• Teespring shirt is done. I've ended the campaign early. I don't know who I was fooling when I put it up. I was most likely fooling myself.
• I don't want to play just Minecraft. I want to play a lot of video games. Minecraft can only entertain me for so long. If you are looking for a pro at any one game, I'm truly sorry. I am not that pro. I'm more "the girl next door" type. I just want to hang out, drink beer, eat pizza, and play video games.
• Gimmicks are done. No more follower notifications. If people decide to follow me, great. If not, still great. I appreciate the supportive viewers I get, but I don't enjoy the trolls that come in with inappropriate and vile names spamming my notification. So that's ending.

Patreon will remain. I enjoy composing. I enjoy making things for people. That will continue. Composing is something I really like to do. So far they've been very simple songs: very easy songs. But I hope to graduate to bigger things to compose and perform for you guys. Patreon newsletter will be going out tomorrow (Thursday) instead of today.

Giveaways will be a thing. Giveaways will happen, but only for special occasions. Those giveaways will be announced here on my blog and reposted on my facebook, my twitter, and my steam group so everyone will know how to get in on the action.

Feathers / Points will remain. These will be the deciding factor on who is eligible to enter a giveaway. Feathers / Points will only be given to those currently watching my stream. if I find that for any reason you are lurking in my chat via irc but are not following my channel, your points will be erased prior to the day of the giveaway. I will trust my moderators not to abuse the system. How many points will be needed for certain activities will be disclosed sometime during the weekend in a separate post.

Youtube will become more of a presence. I will be making more youtube videos. Please check out my channel and subscribe to it. You can get to it by clicking here. I am going to start a new series that I hope will be entertaining as well as informative. The details are being written out and production is underway. It's not a small project. It will take time to produce.

A wide variety of games will be played. I will still play minecraft here and there. The Patreon server will remain up and running for this month and for next month. After April, the server type for Patreons will change to a new game or a new type of Minecraft. I just want to play more games that I have and to share them with you guys. I have so many games that I've wanted to play.

Short version: my time is valuable. I only have so many hours in the day to play a video game and I choose to share that time with my viewers. I could always say fuck it and just stop streaming, but I enjoy it a lot. I have met some fantastic people by doing this (and some not-so-fantastic people). Fuck those guys. They're not why I'm streaming. I'm streaming for me and I'm streaming for my supporters.

So there it is: me being real. You get real Kira. Not production hype Kira, not overly-excited Kira, not even MLG pro Kira. You get the real me. The woman who can't really build anything spectacular or can land a headshot.
